What is “seen in summer?”

A portrait series and love letter to Charlotte — told through visual stories and the people who make this city home.

Seen in Summer is a storytelling portrait project by KND Media, created to honor the beauty, warmth, and everyday magic of Charlotte, NC. Through a series of themed chapters — from chosen family to backyard porches, from birthday babes to quiet moments in nature — this project captures the people, pets, and places that shape our lives when the days are long and the light is golden.

It’s an invitation to be seen just as you are — in the fullness of your joy, your softness, your style, your story.

At the end of the season, these portraits and stories will come together in a printed zine — part photo book, part love letter — to be shared with the community that inspired it all. (If you'd prefer not to be included in the zine, just let us know — your participation is always on your terms.)

This isn’t just a photoshoot — it’s a celebration of who you are, right now, and a way of documenting the magic in your everyday.

What Are the Chapters?

Seen in Summer sessions are centered around a set of chapters, each carrying a theme inspired by the ways we live, love, and move through life. These chapters help guide the focus of your session, allowing us to create images that feel intentional, layered, and true to your season.

From Chosen Kin and Where Love Lives to What Moves You and Made in Charlotte, each chapter is an opportunity to capture a part of your story through warm, cinematic portraiture. When booking your session, you’ll choose the chapter that feels aligned with what you want to honor and remember in this season.

How the Tiers Work:

Seen in Summer is offered in three tiers — A Moment, A Chapter, and A Story — so you can choose how much time and depth feels best for you, while your chosen chapter guides the session’s focus. Each session, regardless of length, is approached with the same warmth and care, allowing us to create images that feel honest and natural.

A Moment (30 min) – accessible, quick, beautiful
A Chapter (1 hr) – spacious, layered, easeful
A Story (1.5 hr) – immersive, intentional, unhurried
